What a strange day! This morning a mama bat and at least one baby flew down in the middle of our back yard. They barely missed our dog Piper standing in the back yard. Not being sure exactly what to do I scooped the bats up in a bucket and placed them in a shady spot outside out fence. Later we noticed something on the tree in the back yard; two bats, not sure if it was the same one I put over the fence or not but we watched them most of the day. Like I said it’s been a strange day.

I think he’s waiting to see how long it will be before the ocean knocks down his small sand castle.

While playing in the water and the beach today with my youngest grandson, I found this whelk shell. It is the largest fully intact whelk shell that I have ever found. It is about three and a half inches wide and six inches long.

I may not have caught many fish today. But, while out with my two oldest grandsons on their first fishing trip ever, I did find moments that will never be forgotten.
It looks like they are telling each other about the fish that got away, and looking for where it went.
