Practicing Knot Tying

by Ken Worley

I taught the kids how to tie a bowline, so now when we go on a walk they a practicing on anything we pass. I think this dock had a rope tied to just about every hand rail and post they could reach.
Everyone needs to know how to tie at lease one good knot. I just hope they don’t decide to tie each other up with their new skill.

Abandoned House

by Ken Worley

I pass this house every time I go to the grocery store. I can’t remember when I noticed that is was empty but I do remember that at one point the front yard had neatly trimmed grass, not the start of a small forest. I this one would look nice in black and white.
If you’re keeping count this day four of my new “35 at 35” project.

Bowline Knot

by Ken Worley

The Oak Island Water Rescue had our monthly business meeting last night. The topic of know how to tie a bowline knot came up and the next thing we know the assistant chief came out with two ropes for the members to practice tying.

I used that practice to come up with the idea for the photo below.

Three stages of how to tie a bowline knot.

Next I’m going to be working on tying a bowline with one hand.

Coffee and a Smile

by Ken Worley

I’m and big fan of coffee! I usually make my own cup to go every morning in a french press, I know fancy schmancy. But this morning I had to stop to get my caffeine fix and pick more ground coffee, because the “cupboard was bare.”
I took that opportunity to photograph the smiling face of one of our local barista at Jumping Java. Thank you for being there for us coffee addicts.

It Has Been Soooo Long!

by Ken Worley

I can’t believe how much I have neglected my blog. It has been so long that I’m not sure if I even know how to… wait what was I doing? Oh yeah I was working on the blog post.

I looked back to my last blog post and saw that I had a small bucket list on it. Well I can at least check one thing off. I am a Licensed Drone Pilot now and have put it to good use for the Oak Island Water Rescue.
The thing with a bucket list is it keeps growing and changing. But isn’t that what makes life fun.

I heard about a project on one of the podcast that I’ve been listen to call the 50 50. The photographer used a 50mm lens and 50 days and make 50 images. I thought I might try a 35 35 project. I have a 35mm lens on my FujiFilm X-T20 so I though I would use just that lens and camera for this project. Let’s see how it goes.

First photo of the 35/35 project was while I was waiting on the ferry this morning.
