Ticket for Seatbelt Violation

by Ken Worley

While riding down the road today I noticed something as a car passed me going the other direction. There was a seatbelt hanging out of the driver’s door. I thought to myself, (I never really got that saying “I thought to myself”, who else are you going to think to?). Anyway, how is the driver of that car going to explain not having a seatbelt on to the police officer that is directing traffic about ten cars ahead? Maybe the officer will not notice the shiny metal buckle swinging from the door frame. It is possible that the metal buckle clanging against the ground will be muffled by a passing car or the police radio. But, the jerking motion of the driver and the yelling “What it the heck is the darn seatbelt hung on” through clenched teeth, is definitely going to bring some attention to the fact that the seatbelt is not securely fastened.

The Lack of Thinking

by Ken Worley

As we go through the day just how much do we really think? Our life can be so busy sometimes that we don’t have time to think about very much. It is kind of like going into automatic pilot. I found myself in a place where I would go through my daily life at work without a new thought popping into my head. It could be because there so many things going on at work that I have to take care of that I was pushing the next thoughts to the side.

I’ve decide to change that by allowing time for me to ponder thoughts as they come to me or at the very least make a note of it so I can go back to it when work is not so hectic. This blog might also help me. If I start posting more under the ponderings category then we will know that my plan is working.

If I had a Cat Catapult

by Ken Worley

Let me start by saying that no cats have been harmed in the writing of this post. Our neighbor across the street has at least two cats. I’m not really a cat person for a couple of reasons, 1. Jamie is allergic to them, 2. when I was in high school my Mom had a cat that was pure evil. That cat would come to you and bite you for no reason. It even bit me one night while I was sound asleep; I flinched in a very fast motion and the cat flew across the room.(it never came into my room again). I guess it left me a little bitter toward cats.

Now back to the neighbor cats. They come over to our yard and try to sneak up on the birds that are feeding on the bird feeder outside our kitchen window. So being the good protector of the house and the property around it, I go out and chase the cat away. Chasing the cat away is done by tossing a pine cone or a stick at the cat.

Now we go into the dream sequence of the post. Imagine a wavy scene or a big thought cloud over my head now. There is a catapult my yard and a snare so when the cat is caught in the snare I can send the cat back to its home by way of airmail. I would have to yell “in coming” or “cats up” just as I launch the feline over the road and into the big bush in the neighbor’s front yard. Just imagine the people driving down the road and seeing a flying cat. The driver of the car could have a wreck. Darn the dream bubble just popped.

Well for now I’ll just have to keep chasing the cat away with the same old boring method.

Barn & Tree Photograph a Day number nine. I saw this while driving down the road and liked the way the barn, tree and sky just fit together so well. I had to stop on the side of the road to take the shot.
