Day 21: Jamie as Rosie

Day 21: Jamie as Rosie

It’s awesome that my lovely wife likes to recreate old posters. We did Audrey Hepburn back in January and now Rosie the Riveter. I jump at the chance to play with small flashes while shooting.

Techie Stuff: a SB-800 high to camera left set on TTL, a SB-600 lighting the background set to 1/64 power with a yellow gel, and a LumoPro LP120 set to 1/32 power as a back light for a little separation .

Manual: page 31 “Image Size” If you shoot RAW the image size adjustment has no affect.

Inspiration: Climie & Co.

Day 18: Fall is Here

Day 18: Fall is Here
If you want to see the beauty in something or someone, you have to get a little closer to them. Take this photograph for instance. One leaf in the green grass might be considered a real beauty. If you step back and look at the entire yard it’s filled with leaves and looks a little messy.

Manual: pages 29 “The Image Quality Menu”

Day 17: Fruit

Day 17: Fruit

I’m trying to eat healthier so we try to keep fruit around the house. It makes it easy to do a little still life.

Manual: page 28 “Image Quality and Size”. This page makes me have to ask a question that many have asked and been asked; Do you shoot RAW or JPEG? I shoot both.

Day 16: Saxophone

by Ken Worley

Day 16: Saxophone

Saxophone is another one of the instruments that Brandon is learning in college. I really like the opportunity to photograph the different instruments. Once Brandon has his office as a band director, maybe he will want to frame some of these for his wall.

Manual: pages 26 and 27 “Choosing a Shooting Mode”

Day 15: Those are Mine

Day 15: Daughter and Hat
I’m always looking for people to photograph so when my daughter wanted to pose in my hat, it was a no-brainer. Go check out her blog; she is posting a photo a day, too.

Manual: pages 24 and 25 “Using Camera Menus”

Inspiration: Kenny Kim. I had coffee with Kenny one time when he came to Atlanta for an engagement session. The night we met, he almost lost his wallet. Did I mention that it was pouring down rain that night so when we found the wallet it was soaking wet.

Day 13: Secure Mail

by Ken Worley

Day 13: Secure Mail
While mailing a letter today I noticed this lock on the mailbox. I went to the car, grabbed my camera and made the shot. Always carry your camera, you never know when you’re are going to need it.

Manual: page 22 “Basic Playback” how to view your photos on the back of the camera.

Inspiration: The [b]ecker an Orange County wedding photographer and founder of [b]school a place where photographers have the opportunity to learn from other photographers.

Day 12: Birds and Tree

by Ken Worley

Day 12: Bird and Tree
Manual: pages 17 through 21 “Basic Photography” This part of the manual tells how to turn the camera on, adjust the settings, frame a photograph, focus, check exposure, and take the photograph. I bet this is where most people stop reading the manual when they first get their camera.

Inspiration: I checked the book “Ansel Adams 400 Photographs” out from the local library. I’m sure I’ll be looking through this book many times.
