Milky Way

by Ken Worley

I’ve wanted to photograph the Milky Way for some time now, but living in the Atlanta suburbs the light pollution doesn’t allow us to see it with the naked eye. While vacationing in North Carolina, I was able to go down to the beach where there was almost no light pollution. Not only could I see the Milky Way but I was able to make a photograph of it. Below is my very first shot of the Milky Way, not just for this night, but my first shot ever of the Milky Way! I can’t wait to visit other places that lack light pollution, so I can make more photos of these beautiful stars.

Are you in Control?

by Ken Worley

If you are in the area, please stop by Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and check out the latest exhibit ‘Self Control’ in the their ‘Glimpses of His Glory Gallery’ art gallery. This exhibit features local artist and is designed to make people aware of the self control they need to put down their electronic devices and enjoy the world around them. Below are a couple of the images from my series of four that I have in the exhibit.

Now walk away from your electronics for at least the next hour and enjoy life.

Day 366 Project 366 – What it Took

by Ken Worley

Today is the last day of my Project 366. I want to share a little of what it took to make it to the end. First off, it’s not easy taking a photo every day for a year, and to post it is even more difficult. It takes discipline and the ability to set aside time each day to take a photo. Our lives can get so busy and it can be hard to find time for the things we really want. I did manage to take a photo every day for the last year. But I must admit that at times I would post a collage of photos from the week because I hadn’t set aside the time to create a post of the photograph of the day.  I used whatever camera I had with me at the time. Below is the camera gear I used throughout my 366 Project.

I will be taking a little break from my blog to brainstorm my next project and build the photography business. Don’t worry; I’ll be back soon.

Day 365 Project 366 – Cranes Overhead

by Ken Worley

Our house must be in the cranes migration path. Twice a year they fly over. I always hear them before I see them; it is amazing how far they can be heard. I included two photo of them below in today’s post.
The first is of them flying in formation.

The second is a little closer shot.

Day 364 Project 366 – Work and Play

by Ken Worley

While finishing up the holes in for our fence post it started to sleet. So Kathryn took a little break to try and catch some of the sleet on her tongue. You can’t have a day of work without having fun mixed in with it.
